This restaurant is unique because it is combining fresh fish taken from its own pond, creative traditional Jogja dish, a great natural green surounding, traditional teakwood buildings, and an area for water-based outbound activities. Located in the heart of Bantul village neighborhood, Projomino is just 10 minutes away from the city center of Ambarrukmo Plaza. Fishes are captured directly from the fish pond and cooked in-place to ensure freshness. Suitable for family and kids, group gathering, or for couples.

Nglambor Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Yogyakarta, located in Gunungkidul, the village of Ngandong, Purwodadi, Tepus coastal area. This place is a more than two-hour driving and riding a motorbike from Yogyakarta. Nglambor is inside the same complex of Siung and Jogan Beach. The difference between Nglambor Beach and the other beaches nearby, is that it has the beatiful underwater scenery. This is the only beach in Gunungkidul area that can be used for snorkeling. Nglambor Beach is now a conservation area for coral reefs and beautiful fishes. So, enjoy the white sand and clean sea water here.
<br />
<br />
<b>What reviewers think...</b>
<br />
<br />
Nglambor coastal sea floor is just like the aquarium universe with a million charm. A pair of "giant turtles" in front of the beach are able to tame the ferocious waves of the Indian Ocean, that makes the underwater panorama on the Java southern coast could be explored and dived safely (by yogyes.com).
<br />
<br />
The beach is flanked by beautiful karst cliffs, which makes the waves at the beach becomes more calm and secure, unlike the other southern coasts. Now Nglambor Beach is becoming the most favorite snorkeling spot in Yogyakarta besides Sadranan Beach (by brobali.com).
<br />
<br />
This place has a clear blue water, two waves meet in a bay, good spot for snorkeling, it's a perfect place for groups or even family.
But please, keep it clean from any waste (by Fajar Ali).
<br />
<br />
Quite and nice beach, recomended place to do snorkeling here with huge and various fish, amazing view arround the beach (by Jatmiko Budiadi).

<br />
Local people call it Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo, gumuk pasir means sand dunes. This unique place is located at Parangkusumo and Parangtritis Beach, Yogyakarta. There are only two sand dunes similar to this in the world, and this one is the one and only in Southeast Asia. Some people enjoy the hilly dunes by sandboarding using a skate that can be rented at the location. This site is only around 1 hour driving from Yogyakarta. Follow the road through the beach as seen in Google Street View, the dunes is on the left side of the road.
<br />
<br />
<b>What reviewers think...</b>
<br><br>
A great place to take pictures and spend a vacation. Easy access and good facilities. There is a sand ski rental service sand and adequate parking (by Yoga Iswara Darma).
<br><br>
Under my expectation. I wish that I would see golden desert, but timing was wrong. I came around 4 pm, but nothing special here. Sandboarding area also so small and not too high. Sandboard rental was 70k/hour or 100k/free time. Avoid to come on weekend, lot of people (by Muhamad Taufiq Hidayat).
<br><br>
The deserts in the city of Yogyakarta? But actually it is not a real desert. In fact, the place is called Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo. Gumuk in Java language is a mound or heap, pasir means sand. So gumuk pasir here means the pile or a sand dune (by wisata.javaindonesia.org).

This beach is very popular to domestic tourists, but not to international visitors due to limited information and reviews. Indrayanti beach is located in the coastal Sundak, Tepus Districts, Gunungkidul Regency. White sandy beaches that extend from east to west is relatively new and quite beautiful. In addition to its beauty, the beach is very clean, as this beach imposing fines on visitors caught littering.
<br />
<br />
Indrayanti or its official name Pulang Sawal Beach provides descent lodging facilities close to its coastal line. Night camping on the beach is also allowed. There are several pieces of jetski that can be rented by visitors to enjoy the beauty of the beach from the other side, the sea. Tired of jetskiing, playing in the water and sunbathing, guests can relax in the gazebo at the edge of the beach while enjoying a meal with a drink of fresh coconut.
<br />

<b>What reviewers think...</b>

This beach is not inferior to top beaches in Indonesia such as the ones in Bali. White sand and clear water is the mainstay of this beatiful beach. When the night comes, this beach would not go lonely. The deeper the night, the beach gets more serene with the eclectic sound waves plus a hypnotic skyline (by lookjogja.blogspot.co.id).<br />
<br />
Indrayanti Beach is dubbed as Jogja with the taste of Bali. This is because the beauty of its white sand and its settings are pretty much like beaches in Bali (by piknikdong.com).<br />
<br />
So beautiful.. I love this beach so much.. Local people are friendly, many cottages are available around this beach (Harri Andria).
<br><br>
Many alternative ways to this location, it is advisable not to use the bus because the road is relatively small and narrow, but roads is in good quality. Using Google Maps is highly recommended (Udi Siswantoro).

<br />
Ramayana ballet, this is the legend of Prambanan history that comes to life, presented by more than 150 artists at its original place. Ramayana Ballet at Prambanan is the most spectacular performance in Yogyakarta that held in an open theatre of the Prambanan temple complex, a UNESCO world culture heritage. The performance in open theatre only scheduled at dry season.
<br />
<br />
This performance which is similar to that engraved on Prambanan temple will offer you a theatrical performance combined with musical performance that will guide you to the past time to follow the story of Prince Rama, when he rule the Kingdom as the Caesar in India. This dance-drama is a marvelous visualization of legendary epos in Javanese culture, Ramayana.
<br />
<br />
Performed in an open stage, Ramayana ballet invites you to enjoy the story in a set of typical Javanese dance accompanied by gamelan music. A full-time professional in arts, drama, dance and musical of Javanese heritage perform with about 150 members. The Ramayana Prambanan Ballet is celebrating the 50th on-going consecutive years (1961-2011). The dance and uniform are portraying the Javanese tradition and culture. This attraction involve not only dancers but also gamelan (Javanese traditional music instruments) musicians and sinden (Javanese singer with unique voicing).
<br />
<br />
<b>What reviewers think...</b>
<br />
<br />
Magnificient views of the Prambanan in the background. Very good example of Javanese dance. Well organized. They also provide hotel drop offs after the show is over at a nominal rate (by Dhiman Das).
<br><br>
It has nice background especially when it's full moon. The ballet tell a story of Ramayana. The story divided into 4 chapter. Each night will only play 1 chapter. The dancing are beautiful and unique (by Andre Budayasa).
<br><br>
When visiting Yogyakarta, I highly recommend to plan for watching this splendid show of the traditional ballet of Ramayana. Best time of the year are during summer where you get the outdoor theatre with a spectacular fire show during the burning Hanoman scene. I'll promise you won't regret every penny spent! (by Guntur Sarwohadi)
<br><br>
Quite disappointing performance overall and a bit of a tourist trap given taxis can ask you any price to go there and back. Better to arrange a private transport (by Evgeny S).

<br />
Ratu Boko is an archaeological site known to modern Javanese as Kraton Ratu Boko or Ratu Boko's Palace. Ratu Boko is located on a plateau, about three kilometres south of Lara Jonggrang Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta Indonesia. The original name of this site is still unclear, however the local inhabitants named this site after King Boko, the legendary king mentioned in Loro Jonggrang folklore. In Javanese, Ratu Boko means "Stork King".
<br />
<br />
The site covers 16 hectares in two hamlets (Dawung and Sambireja) of the village of Bokoharjo and Prambanan, Sleman Regency. In striking contrast to other Classic-period sites in Central Java and Yogyakarta, which are remains of temples, Ratu Boko displays attributes of an occupation or settlement site, although its precise function is unknown. Probably the site was a palace complex which belonged to the kings of Sailendra or Mataram Kingdom that also built temples scattered across the Prambanan Plain. The argument was based on the fact that this complex was not a temple nor building with religious nature, but a fortified palace instead which evidence of a remnant of fortified walls and the dry moat of defensive structures. The remains of settlements also founds in Ratu Boko vicinity.
<br />
<br />
This site is located 196 m above the sea level, on the highest point in the site, there is a small pavilion from which one will be able to see a panoramic view of Prambanan temple with Mount Merapi as the background.
<br />
<br />
<b>What reviewers think...</b>
<br><br>
Here is more like a garden rather than historical place. Big area here you can enjoy the view of Jogjakarta city from the top. If you come here after 3:30pm, you are fixed to "enjoy" their sunset ticket. Although the restaurant seems nice, but you have no choice to pay less for without sunset (by Brett Kwong).
<br><br>
Cool place, make sure to snap some photos here! But prepare yourself with sunglasses, umbrellas, hats, and sunblock if you don't want to get burnt. Recommendation: buy a package of Candi Prambanan entry + Ratu Boko entry + two-way shuttle of Prambanan-Ratu Boko that costs IDR 50.000/person, so you don't have to search for cabs to go here :) (by Monika Ardine).

Bu Ning is a legend in Yogyakarta's culinary world. Her food stall located in Tamansiswa (or in short: Tamsis) offers lotek and gado-gado or hodgepodge (vegetables and peanut sauce dish) with smooth peanut sauce that is distinctive and taste tempting. Three large mortars have become its trademark. Bu Ning and employees make peanut sauce and blend lotek and hodgepodge that customers order. When lunch time comes and customers begin to arrive, then, 5-10 servings of lotek or hodgepodge can be directly blended in those large mortars. However, although made in large portions, do not worry that you will lose its taste.

Beringharjo market becomes part of Malioboro that is worth visiting. This market has been center of economy activity since years ago and its existence has philosophical meaning. The market that had been renovated several times symbolizes stages of human life that is busily engaged in its economy fulfillment. Furthermore, Beringharjo is also one of the 'four in one' poles (consisting of South Square, Sultan Palace, North Square, and Beringharjo market) symbolizing economy functions.
<BR><br>
For tourists and visitors, as well as for local people, Beringharjo has been the first choice for batik shopping. Batik has been emerged as the most favorite product bought by tourists in Jogja. The variation is also growing rapidly so we can buy batik in many formats such as shirts, skirts, etc. The price is also very reasonable and affordable, ranging from very expensive to very low price.

Jogja City Mall or JCM as the locals call it, is not the largest in the city, but this is surely one of the most popular destination in Yogyakarta. It is located at the same vicinity with The Sahid Rich Hotel. This building is inspired by the Roman style as we can see clearly throughout the inside and outside part of the mall.

Jalan Malioboro or Malioboro Street is a major shopping street in Yogyakarta, Indonesia; the name is also used more generally for the neighborhood around the street. It lies north-south axis in the line between Yogyakarta Kraton and Mount Merapi. This is in itself is significant to many of the local population, the north–south orientation between the palace and the volcano being of importance.
<br><br>
The street is the centre of Yogyakarta's largest tourist district surrounded with many hotels, restaurants, and shops nearby. Sidewalks on both sides of the street are crowded with small stalls selling a variety of goods. In the evening several open-air street side restaurants, called lesehan, operate along the street. This is the street of the artists. Street musicians, painters, and other artists exhibit their creations on this road.

Tugu Jogja (or Toegoe Djokdja) is the most popular landmark of Yogyakarta. Hundreds of visitors will gather at night everyday to take photos of this monument. It is located right in the center of the crossroad between the Mangkubumi, Soedirman, A.M. Sangaji and Diponegoro streets. The Tugu Jogja that is almost three century old has a very deep meaning and it keeps some history records of Yogyakarta. Tugu Jogja was built around one year after the Yogyakarta Kingdom established.
<br />
<br />
This monument built to reflect the philosophy of the unity of God's creatures. That means the spirit of togetherness of lay people and authorities to fight the Dutch colonials. In Javanese term, the spirit of togetherness is called <i>golong gilig</i> that is clearly described in the construction of the monument: the pole is of gilig (cylinder) form and the top part is golong (rounded). Therefore, this monument is also known as Tugu Golong-Gilig.

Borobudur, or Barabudur, is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. The temple is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated inside a perforated stupa. It is the world's largest Buddhist temple, as well as one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world.
<br><br>
Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty, the temple was designed in Javanese Buddhist architecture, which blends the Indonesian indigenous cult of ancestor worship and the Buddhist concept of attaining Nirvana. The temple also demonstrates the influences of Gupta art that reflects India's influence on the region, yet there are enough indigenous scenes and elements incorporated to make Borobudur uniquely Indonesian.
<br><br>
The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path around the monument and ascends to the top through three levels symbolic of Buddhist cosmology: Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness). The monument guides pilgrims through an extensive system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the walls and the balustrades. Borobudur has the largest and most complete ensemble of Buddhist reliefs in the world.
<br><br>
This famous Buddhist temple, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, is located in central Java. It was built in three tiers: a pyramidal base with five concentric square terraces, the trunk of a cone with three circular platforms and, at the top, a monumental stupa. The walls and balustrades are decorated with fine low reliefs, covering a total surface area of 2,500 m2. Around the circular platforms are 72 openwork stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha.
